A nation-wide movement is underway to make agriculture more economically and ecologically prosperous. Following the principles of soil health make farms more efficient and independent, but transitioning to soil health practices will happen faster with targeted investment. In 2023 the USDA began funding 135 projects that provide funding and technical assistance to support practice adoption, monitor the impacts, and bring these products to the marketplace. The federal funding freeze must immediately be lifted to allow these projects to continue delivering essential benefits to farmers and the American people.
